Arborstead Review & Weaning Yourself from Antiperspirants!

I want to start out by saying that I have been incredibly lucky in my blogging and reviewing adventure and have received soooo many great products! I have literally not had any disappointing products to date…but if you were to ask me what my absolute favorite body care product I have received so far I am going to tell you that the Arborstead products are it! They sent me a full sized Lavender deodorant, many sample sized, one lip gloss tube, one lip balm and a bottle of Calendula & Chamomile  baby powder.

I have really struggled for the last year to find a deodorant that works for me…I refuse to use commercially produced deodorants—however, I did try Tom’s and they just didn’t cut it for me.  I understand that with natural deodorants there is an adjustment period ( I will post more about that below ), and I took that into consideration, but still nothing really worked. When I received my Arborstead sticks and gave them a testeroo, I immediately noticed that I experienced no irritation, and they actually worked for me! Hallelujah! The other plus point is that being diabetic I randomly get sores in my armpit, which makes it super difficult to not become even more irritated once I put my deodorant on, but with my Lavender Arborstead I experienced no additional irritation or pain! Seriously life changing.

Here is a list of the deodorants they offer :

Bergamot & Black Pepper
Ginger & Lime
Lemongrass & Eucalyptus
Patchouli & Clove
Patchouli & Ylang Ylang
Sage & Juniper
Woodland Pine

Ingredients: Extra-Virgin Coconut Oil, Natural Beeswax, Raw Shea Butter, Arrowroot Powder, Baking Soda, Kaolin Clay, Avocado Oil, Essential Oils.

I love the baby powder they sent, I have used it on my son several times and it is fantastic! I have also used it to prevent chafing when wearing dresses, and it performed amazingly as well…not to mention I LOVE the smell. They also offer Lavender and Unscented! The Ingredients are : Arrowroot Powder, Kaolin Clay.   The natural lip gloss and Lip Balm were also a hit with my daughter and I ! I adore the cinnamon, and think it is the perfect consistency, and leaves just the right amount of shine, though the peppermint balm is pretty amazing itself.

So in closing, I love Arborstead products, plain and simple. They are my most used of any of the similar type of products I have received, and I cannot wait to try even more of their products, especially their bath soak, (I can only imagine how heavenly it must be) and their toothpaste that is coming soon!!!

Making the switch to Natural Deodorants…

Switching from antiperspirants to natural deodorants can be difficult at times, but remember that your body really really needs to sweat…as much as I hate it, my body NEEDS  to release toxins, and when you wear antiperspirants they are preventing your body from functioning normally. ( DONT GIVE UP!!! ) Doing this WILL take adjustment…you can rip the bandaid off and go cold turkey, but let me tell you with complete honesty…you will stink a bit…this is what I chose to do, and I just endured my natural smell 😉 knowing I was doing something wonderful for my body, and taking another step in my crusade to ward cancer away from my body! ( two cancer scares and a lumpectomy before 30 is enough for me, thank you. )  You can also take baby steps slowly weaning yourself away from antiperspirants…possibly reduce the amount or number of times you use antiperspirant on your days off and when you don’t have to go around people who might not love you enough to endure your stink 😉 With all of that said, once your body adjusts,  the stink will go away and you can be happy to know you are doing something happy for your body! Yay!
