I was super duper excited when I received my box from Bamboo Studio! I had never ever used Bamboo utensils, let alone heard of disposable bamboo products until someone turned me on to their website…boy was I pleasantly surprised! Disposable bamboo plates? No way! Bamboo sent me a disposable heart bowl, two cooking utensils, collapsible salad tongs, and the most adorable little monkey 5 piece set for my little monkey—It included a plate, a bowl, a cup, a fork, and a spoon…too stinking cute! So I am sure you are asking why bamboo, right ? I was too, and here’s why: “A study by Canadian scientist Martin Hocking shows that making a paper plate uses as much petroleum or natural gas as a polystyrene plate. Plus, the paper product uses wood pulp. The Canadian study said, ‘The paper product consumes 12 times as much steam, 36 times as much electricity, and twice as much cooling water as the plastic equivalent. But that doesn’t mean expanded polystyrene (styrofoam) is good. All plastics take a long time to biodegrade – some estimate as much as several centuries. Fortunately there is a great alternative to the age old question of “Paper or Plastic.” Bamboo Studio!”
I used the wonderful products they sent right away, and have had fantastic results! I love my slotted spatula and serving spoon! They have held up VERY well and haven’t splintered like my wooden utensils always seem to…especially after putting them through the dishwasher. ALL of the products they sent have held up super well, and I will definitely be making the switch to all bamboo utensils, and hopefully can eventually switch a lot of my kitchen goods over as I can afford to do so over time! 🙂 Speaking of affording, everything on the site IS very affordable, especially compared to some of the other sites I have checked out. Yay for good deals! 🙂 I would recommend switching over to bamboo to ANYONE…there are so many reasons to do so…and I have listed them at the bottom of this review 😀 Please check out: http://www.shopbamboostudio.com/

Disposable Bamboo Sheath Products:
Our disposable Bamboo Sheath products are made from the sheath of the bamboo plant. The sheath is a protective covering found on newly emerging bamboo plants. As the plant matures, the sheath falls to the ground and most often is unutilized. Our process collects these sheaths and then they are cleaned, boiled, laminated to the desired thickness, and pressed into shape. The result is disposable dinnerware that is elegant, strong and 100% biodegradable. Sheath products can be reused several times with the following proper care instructions. Hand wash with soap in hot water and immediately hand dry with a soft towel. Do not submerge in water or place in a dishwasher.
Reusable BambooWare Products:
Our reusable BambooWare product line is a revolutionary dishware that is eco-friendly, biodegradable, beautiful and durable. The process begins by taking the fiber of bamboo plants five years or older and grinding it into a fine powder. Utilizing a patented process, we mold this material into beautiful, durable, eco-friendly plates, bowls and trays that are all 100% biodegradable. Each piece of our BambooWare line is FDA approved food safe and can withstand even the toughest industrial dishwashers. For the first time, BambooWare combines the eco-conscious decision to purchase dinnerware made from Earth-friendly bamboo plants with the natural desire to own dinnerware that is stylish, colorful and durable.
Our Other Reusable Products:
We also offer reusable products that are made from the bamboo plant itself. Our very popular reusable knife, spoon and fork are beautiful, strong, elegant, long lasting and biodegradable. To care for these reusable items hand wash with hot water and soap, and dry with a soft towel. Do not leave submerged in water or place in a dishwasher as the life of the item will be reduced.
Bamboo is completely biodegradable, which means they can be disposed of outside (landfills for example) and not hurt the environment. Wooden utensils can years to actually break down, think of all the dead trees you see dotted along the landscape. These trees do not produce green leaves, but they do not simply break down and absorb back into the earth.
Bamboo is stronger than wood which makes it last longer. How many times have you had a wooden spoon crack or break on you while in the middle of using it? The answer is probably more often than not. Some people actually shy away from using a wood spoon to stir anything but liquids for the that very reason. For example: you are making cookies, once the mixing of ingredients reaches the dough stage, a wooden spoon can break under the pressure of the stiff dough!
If the wooden utensil cracks, there is always the fear of having tiny wooden splinters fall into the food. Seriously, who wants that much fiber in their diet? With bamboo utensils, you can dig into that cookie dough with confidence. The strength of bamboo also ensures that you will not have to replace utensils very often because they do not wear out as fast as wooden ones.
Bamboo is stain resistant from normal cooking and baking. No stains, major plus here! Anyone who has used wooden utensils regularly, can attest to the fact that they stain easily. Those stains end up making the utensil look dingy, no matter how hard you scrub it. The simple fact is, using stained, dingy looking utensils in the kitchen makes you feel like the food is going to somehow be contaminated. It can also be embarrassing to have other people see your stained wooden utensils. The paranoia can set in and you might wonder what they are thinking about when they have dinner at your house!
Bamboo grows much faster than trees do, therefore it takes less time to replenish bamboo than trees. This makes the use of bamboo even more sensible. Bamboo is actually a grass, which naturally grows faster than a tree. Think of it this way: you can wipe out a section of bamboo and turn it into utensils, then plant more and have the section filled in within a very short amount of time as opposed to years that it takes for trees to grow back.
There really is no competition between wooden and bamboo utensils; bamboo wins hands down. Bamboo is environmentally friendly, durable and stain resistant; what more could want out of your utensils? Oh, by the way, bamboo utensils are actually affordable too! It is a win win situation. ” — ( Tammy Cramblett http://www.culinaryarts360.com/index.php/benefits-of-using-bamboo-utensils-over-wooden-850/)
