Freshly Picked Moccasin Review+Giveaway!

My son August received an adorable pair of Freshly Picked Moccasins a few weeks ago and since then I ( we) have been in love! The pair we picked are in the color Weathered Brown ( which appear a bit darker in my photographs ), though they had soooo many adorable colors and prints to choose from. The quality is absolutely astounding, as these are handmade 100 percent genuine leather! Not only do they look fantastic with literally every outfit we have tried them with, but can you imagine how cozy they must be?! I would adore a pair for my very own…if only! 🙂

These shoes are super duper stylish ( as I am sure you can see ) and have made my little Augie the envy of all of the neighborhood babies ( or at least I like to think so 😉 )! Freshly Picked moccasins are apparently adored by countless celebrities tots as well…and if you care about that sort of thing you might be impressed! ( I am sure this is an amazing thing for Freshly Picked ) All though I don’t particularly care, I do love these moccasins and think they are basically the bee’s knees, and wish my sweet little man had about 5 more pair…especially the Limited Edition Sprout color…holy beans those things are cute! ( I am picturing them below…you seriously need to see these things!) I was so torn when deciding, but my need to match outfits to shoes outweighed my insane love for the Sprouts…sigh. I do suggest using their sizing chart, which can be found here—because they were a tad big for my sweet little Aug, even though I thought I was going off of the size he currently wears, however, I consider this a good thing…it will allow him to wear them twice as long. ( even though they are a big big, they still stay on and can still be worn.)

A little backstory….

“Susan Petersen started making baby moccasins in 2009 after becoming frustrated by the lack of well-designed baby shoes. Using her second child, Gus, as a mocc-tester, and a bag of scrap leather she picked up at a yard sale, she began experimenting with designs. Working at her kitchen table, on a shoestring budget, Susan persisted through some disastrous attempts until she had created a pair of moccasins that not only looked adorable on Gus’ chubby little feet, but stayed on his feet as well.

Since then the moccasins have gone through about six design changes. Each change has perfected the look and the fit of the soft-soled shoe. The moccasins you purchase today are durable, well designed, and most importantly: stay on your child’s foot.

Money was tight at the time Susan started and in order to earn money to start her business she got resourceful. Her brother owns a window installation business and in the summer of 2009 she convinced him to let her keep the old windows that he was removing from the houses. She spent a whole summer banging the glass out of the windows because they were encased in aluminum frames. At the end of the summer she took the aluminum window frames to the scrap yard and recycled them to get money. She made $200 dollars and with that literal sweat equity, she started her business.
