Simplest Homemade Donuts–Using Canned Biscuits!

I have been seeing something amazing all over the internet…donuts…made from biscuits!? Say what? I decided that we absolutely HAD to give this a try and here our results, in case you are like me and one of the only people on the planet who hasn’t seen/tried this already.

What you need : 1. Canned biscuits ( brand doesn’t matter, but they cannot be the flaky kind ). 2. Something to cut the middle of the dough and 3. pot with oil to deep fry the dough.

You will probably also want some sort of glaze, sprinkle or topping of some sort. Without it, these are pretty much just drop biscuits. We created a glaze. used a cinnamon sugar combo and a ton of sprinkles.

And now on to the shortest, easiest recipe, like ever.

Heat 2 inches of oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit in a dutch oven or some type of pot. Next, the middles out of your biscuits. You can use a cookie cutter, a bottle, or just about anything that is the right size, which is around 1 1/2 inches. Once you have your donuts cut, simply fry them and your donut holes in your 350 degree oil. You will know they are ready to be flipped ( I used tongs ) once they start turning golden brown. Once both sides are done, simply place them on a paper or cloth lined plate. Then either toss them in your cinnamon sugar mixture, drizzle them with glaze or shower them with sprinkles…it’s up to you!

There are so many fun ways to decorate your donuts, so get creative! This is a super fun way to celebrate a holiday and much easier than any of the other donut recipes I have came across so far…and I promise you, just as tasty!

Tip: For a yummy glaze simply whisk¬†1 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar,3 tbl milk or water together until it’s lump free. Adding 2 tsp. of vanilla extract is also a yummy touch.
