The Moosewood Cookbook- A 40th Anniversary Edition Review
Since the original publication of the MOOSEWOOD COOKBOOK in 1977, author Mollie Katzen has been leading the revolution in American eating habits. MOOSEWOOD was listed by the New York Times as one of the top ten best-selling cookbooks of all time, and no wonder. With her sophisticated, easy-to-prepare vegetarian recipes, charming drawings, and hand lettering, Mollie introduced millions to a more healthful, natural way of cooking. This new edition–a companion volume to her latest TV series–preserves the major revisions and additions that Mollie made in 1992, accented with new recipes from Mollie’s current repertoire and 16 pages of beautiful full-color food photography. You’ve seen MOOSEWOOD before, but you’ve never seen it quite like this!
“One of the most attractive, least dogmatic meatless cookbooks printed…an engaging blend of hand-lettered cared and solid food information.”–Bob Heisler, New York Post
I am not a vegan or vegetarian, but have in the past heard so many wonderful things about this cookbook so I decided to give it a look. I know you aren’t supposed to judge a book by it’s cover, but this cookbook has a fabulous one! It’s one of those books you want to display proudly in your kitchen, but if I thought the cover was amazing, once I opened the book I was in absolute amazement! This book is filled with BEAUTIFUL hand drawn illustrations and recipes! It is one of the most charming/quaint cookbooks I have ever laid eyes on!
The recipes in this book are mostly clear and easy to follow, which is a biggie for me! There are so many options in this cookbook and so many great meat free options that this cookbook has made it’s way up on my favorite cookbook list! With it’s Pantry Notes, Table of Conversion and Notes throughout the book this book is an amazing resource and a must have for those who haven’t picked one up during these 40 years 😉 and for those of you who are like me and wanna pick up this beauty to display proudly in your vegetarian (or not!) kitchen!
I absolutely love the beautiful art work in this fabulous cookbook!
Yum Yum! There are so many tasty recipes in this book, I am not sure I can choose a favorite!
