Tummy Pleasing Pastiglie Leone Classic Pastilles

I haven’t had pastilles in years, so when I saw that Black Tie Mercantile ( On Amazon )  offered them for sale,  I practically jumped for joy! I have ordered several sweets from this company before, so I knew that I would be getting top quality fresh sweets packaged nicely in their trademark black box, perfect for gifting—but you better believe I will not be gifting these treats! As always, my order came quickly and everything was absolutely perfect!

First off let me say, I love the Pastiglie Leone Classic Pastilles packaging! I carefully removed it so that I can later place is back on the box and save it! It has such a worldly nostalgic feel that I love, which made eating these pastilles even more of a treat! These pastilles are flavored and colored with only the pure essence of plants and are meant for dissolving on the tongue ( though I admit, I get impatient and tend to devour them! ). They are not only yummy, but are intended to cure upset stomachs, especially after eating a large rich meal. I love the texture and want to add that though these appear chalky, they aren’t so much in the flavor. The flavors I received were Coffee, Black Licorice, Absinthe and Green Tea. I have to say that I loved them all quite a lot, though it took me a bit to get used to the flavor of the Absinthe. I can’t wait to try more of the wonderful flavors available and will let you know when I do!

Have you tried Pastilles? If so, what were your thoughts?

FYI: “Pastilles are made by pouring a thick liquid into a powdered, sugared, or waxed mold and then allowing the liquid to set and dry. The substances contained in the dried liquid are slowly released when chewed and allowed to dissolve in the mouth. The substances are then absorbed by the mucous membranes of the oral cavity or in the lower gastro-intestinal tracts. Various substances, be they of medicinal nature or for flavour can be put into pastille forms.”-Wikipedia
